Chungnam Province is actively implementing the 'Regional Economic Education Project' to enhance the rational economic decision-making and financial management skills of its residents.
The province is operating customized educational programs tailored to different groups—such as students, vulnerable and marginalized populations, and the general public—so that residents can adapt to changes in the economic landscape, including the financial and real estate sectors, and acquire the economic knowledge necessary for daily life.
On the 19th, the provincial government stated that over 25,300 individuals had participated in this year's education program by the end of last month, and training will continue for an additional 6,700 people from this month through the second half of the year.
Moving beyond the simple delivery of information like economic theory, the curriculum is designed with practical content that can be applied to real life, reflecting the characteristics and demands of each target group.
Education for students covers essential topics for future economic life, such as the market economy, rational consumer habits, and careers and the economy. Alongside lectures, it utilizes board games and hands-on activities to help students understand economic concepts easily and enjoyably.
For vulnerable and marginalized groups—including seniors, children at local children's centers, multicultural families, and low-income households—the education focuses on practical necessities, such as prevention and response methods for financial scams like voice phishing, expense management, bank account management, and the basics of saving and investing.
Furthermore, following a demand survey conducted across 15 cities and counties in February, the province is striving to operate a well-balanced educational program that reflects the unique conditions and needs of each region.
Additionally, the province is systematizing the program's operation through the Chungnam Economic Education Center (Chungnam Economic Promotion Agency), utilizing internally trained full-time instructors and university student lecturers to provide education tailored to the specific characteristics of each group.
A provincial official stated, "As the economic environment changes rapidly, the ability to understand one's own financial situation and make rational judgments is becoming increasingly important," adding, "We will continue to expand customized education so that any resident can receive the economic training they need."
