The Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Government has launched an initiative to dismantle prejudices against multicultural families and foster an inclusive community that respects diverse cultures.
On the 11th, the province hosted the "Shining Together Day" multicultural awareness campaign in the first-floor lobby of the main provincial office building.
Hosted by the province and organized by the Chungcheongnam-do Family Center (Multicultural Family Support Hub), the event was designed to elevate the multicultural acceptance index among provincial residents and create a social atmosphere where residents of diverse cultural backgrounds can settle into the local community without discrimination.
The event garnered an enthusiastic response by operating various interactive zones for attendees, including students from the provincial office daycare, visitors, and public officials. These consisted of an △ institutional promotion zone, a △ mutual cultural understanding experience zone, and an △ acceptance index quiz zone.
Notably, a professional instructor specializing in mutual cultural understanding was invited to provide vivid cultural explanations alongside hands-on activities, offering an accessible and informative opportunity for everyone—from children to adults—to engage with multiculturalism.
Starting with this inaugural campaign, the province plans to conduct a total of four regional touring campaigns this year to spread a culture of multicultural inclusion throughout the province.
A provincial official emphasized, "Multicultural families are invaluable partners in our community and the driving force for our future growth. We will spare no policy support to ensure that a culture of mutual respect takes deep root across Chungnam."
Meanwhile, according to Ministry of the Interior and Safety statistics at the end of 2024, the number of multicultural household members in the province recorded 68,417, and the number of foreign residents was 169,245. This accounts for 3.06% and 7.56%, respectively, of the total provincial population of 2,238,243, ranking it at the top level nationally.
