▲ Final Preparation Status Briefing for the Taean International Horticulture and Healing Expo

With the opening of the 2026 Taean International Horticulture and Healing Expo just 59 days away, the organizing committee is kicking its final preparations into high gear.

On the 25th, the Taean International Horticulture and Healing Expo Organizing Committee held a final preparation status briefing in the main conference room of the provincial office.

The briefing, attended by approximately 60 officials including Governor Kim Tae-heum and Taean County Mayor Ga Se-ro, proceeded with status reports from the organizing committee, Taean County, and various provincial departments, followed by an open discussion.

The Taean International Horticulture and Healing Expo will run for 30 days, from April 25 to May 24, taking place around Kkotji Beach on Anmyeondo Island, the Anmyeondo Arboretum, and the local botanical gardens in Taean. The event will be held under the theme, "A Healthy Future Found in Nature: Horticulture and Healing."

The organizing committee has already completed 90% of the expo venue's infrastructure construction and 70% of the exhibition hall installations.

The creation of the outdoor gardens is also progressing smoothly, having surpassed the 60% completion mark.

The committee plans to wrap up all infrastructure and exhibition hall construction by next month. From there, they will focus on enhancing the content for the horticulture and healing theme pavilions and the healing gardens, which represent the core focus of the expo.

The goal is to maximize visitor satisfaction by featuring unique, highly differentiated "killer content" across all indoor and outdoor exhibition displays.

Efforts to attract domestic and international institutions and companies are also picking up speed as they close in on their target goals.

Out of the targeted 120 domestic companies and institutions in the horticulture and healing sectors, 88 have officially confirmed their participation.

In addition, around 50 companies will take part in export consultation meetings to explore strategies for expanding into the global market.

From overseas, 45 institutions and companies across 20 countries have confirmed their attendance, further backing the successful hosting of the event.

These foreign entities are also expected to increase their engagement through international competitions, academic conferences, and export consultation sessions.

Moving forward, the organizing committee plans to continue attracting more domestic and international participants while simultaneously finalizing country-specific content and coordinating the import of exhibition materials for foreign companies.

With an anticipated turnout of over 1.8 million visitors from home and abroad, the committee is fully committed to implementing comprehensive traffic and parking measures.

Prioritizing △ minimizing road congestion, △ providing convenient mobility, and △ preemptively resolving parking shortages, the committee will monitor the event in real-time using drones and navigation systems, strategically deploying personnel to any traffic bottlenecks.

Parking facilities will be built to accommodate 10,019 vehicles—108% of the estimated maximum weekend demand of 9,260 spaces—with the construction of temporary parking lots slated for completion next month.

During the briefing, Governor Kim Tae-heum emphasized, "As the world's first expo to combine horticulture with healing, this event will serve as a turning point that opens up a new future for Chungnam. By hosting a successful expo, let's strengthen the horticulture and healing brand of Taean and the broader Chungnam region."

Governor Kim also called for: △ strengthening on-site response capabilities through simulated real-world scenarios, △ reviewing traffic flow, transportation, and amenities from the visitors' perspective, △ devising plans that link accommodations with experiences to promote stayover tourism, and △ specifying concrete post-expo utilization plans.

Meanwhile, the exhibition halls at the Taean International Horticulture and Healing Expo will convey the core messages of horticulture and healing through five distinct pavilions—△ the Special Pavilion, △ the Industry Pavilion, △ the High-Tech Horticulture Experience Pavilion, △ the Care Farming Pavilion, and △ the International Exchange Pavilion—each featuring highly differentiated stories and content.

The outdoor venue will be designed to highlight the beginnings of healing and the restorative power of nature, featuring △ Outdoor Gardens, △ Healing Gardens, △ Floral Planting Areas, and △ Playgrounds that seamlessly combine horticulture with recreation.

Official events, including the opening ceremony on April 25 and the closing ceremony on May 24, will be directed with a compelling narrative to effectively convey the expo's core meaning and themes.

Throughout the expo, a wide variety of entertainment will be available, including special performances, regular daily programs, and hands-on events. Visitors can also enjoy activities linked with the Anmyeondo Arboretum and local botanical gardens, as well as interactive programs offering a glimpse into carbon neutrality initiatives.
