The '2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo', promoted by the 8th popularly elected administration of Strong Chungnam, has been approved by the government as the '10th international event' in the province's history.

The province announced that the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo was finally approved as a government-supported international event by the Ministry of Economy and Finance's International Events Review Committee on the 7th.

With the continuous growth of the global strawberry market and the rising popularity of K-strawberries, the province planned an international event that goes beyond the existing strawberry festival to facilitate a new leap forward for the strawberry industry.

The province decided to hold an industrial expo focused on strawberries, presenting the future value of the agricultural industry by combining advanced agricultural technology (AgTech) and food technology (Food Tech). It submitted a plan to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs last November.

After review by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo was selected as a project for the Ministry of Economy and Finance's international event policy review in March, signaling a green light for government approval and securing national funding.

Following an on-site inspection and policy analysis by the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, the project underwent a feasibility review and finally achieved the valuable result of final approval.

The expo, with a total project cost of 19.7 billion won including national funding, will be held under the theme of 'K-berry! Smart Agriculture, Healthy Future.' It is scheduled to run from February 26 to March 21, 2027, in the area of Nonsan Citizens' Family Park (main venue) and Strawberry Scent Rural Theme Park (sub-venue).

The plan is to establish eight exhibition halls, including: △ a main exhibition hall presenting the history, value, and future vision of the K-strawberry industry; △ an international exhibition hall for strawberry industry exchange; △ an industrial exhibition hall featuring smart agricultural technology and food tech; △ a local hall like a strawberry market for the community; and △ an experience hall for strawberry picking and fine dining.

The province anticipates that more than 1.5 million visitors will attend the expo, creating over 2,600 jobs and generating an economic ripple effect of more than 520 billion won.

Lee Jeong Sam, Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, said, "The final approval of the 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo as an international event is a result of the collective efforts of all provincial residents and those involved in the strawberry industry." He added, "We will thoroughly prepare for the event and make it a success so that our province can establish itself as a hub of the global strawberry industry."
