Chungnam Province and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) hosted the '2025 Export Company CEO Forum' on the 23rd at the Ramada Encore by Wyndham Hotel in Cheonan.

This forum was prepared under the theme of 'Chungnam Province Companies' Strategy for Entering Reconstruction Projects in Preparation for the Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire,' serving as a platform to share local trends and explore the possibility of participation by companies within the province.

Attended by over 100 people, including Governor Kim Tae-heum, relevant public officials, executives and staff from provincial export companies, and representatives from related institutions and organizations, the event proceeded with presentations, discussions, and a Q&A session.

Lee Cheol-won, a senior researcher at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), was the first lecturer, presenting on 'Trends and Participation Opportunities in Ukraine Reconstruction Projects.'

He projected, "Ukraine's reconstruction is important from a humanitarian perspective, but it will also be a promising opportunity in terms of profit for participating companies," arguing that "contributing to enhancing the values of freedom, peace, and democracy through revitalized cooperation between Korea and Ukraine will be effective in activating our companies' participation."

Following him, Cho Eun-jin, an attorney at law firm Yulchon, shared future political prospects, including the Ukrainian presidential election, in her presentation on 'Efficient Strategies for Entering Ukraine Reconstruction Projects.' She proposed methods for participating in reconstruction projects, including △participation in international tenders △utilization of international financial institution projects △participation in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects △participation in construction project bids through partnerships and joint ventures △and strategies for independent participation.

Attorney Cho advised, "It may be difficult for Korean companies to secure contracts independently, so we recommend forming partnerships with local companies that have a high understanding of local regulations and relevant experience."

The final lecturer, Kang Ki-ung, Vice President of ITokS, in his presentation on 'Ukraine Reconstruction Project Entry Strategies and Current Status,' suggested that "as the scale of Ukraine's reconstruction project is estimated to reach up to 1,000 trillion won over the next 10 years, companies in the province should prepare meticulous entry strategies." He further advised, "Companies should target K-items with high local demand, such as cosmetics, combined heat and power generators, and pickup trucks, and maximize the use of public sector networks that have secured stable retail sales channels."

Additionally, as a side event at the forum, attorneys from law firm Yulchon provided customized consulting related to entering Ukraine reconstruction projects for pre-registered companies.

At this gathering, Governor Kim stated, "As the US-China tariff war escalates into a 'chicken game,' our companies must be enduring sleepless and difficult days." He affirmed, "The speed and effectiveness of government and local government support measures are crucial, so the province has already formed an emergency response task force (TF) and entered a crisis response system."

Governor Kim continued, "The province plans to continuously supplement measures through the task force, not just with one-time solutions, and will also prepare mid-to-long-term plans to strengthen industrial competitiveness." He emphasized, "Like the saying 'unoechangcheon' (cloudless blue sky), Chungnam will stand with our entrepreneurs to navigate through these stormy conditions and welcome clear skies."
