Ahead of the peak summer season, Chungcheongnam-do introduces travel destinations where visitors can enjoy the province's nature, culture, and night views together through the 'Monthly Chungnam June Issue.'

Under the theme 'Watercolor of June,' this issue features day trips or two-day travel itineraries centered around the representative tourist spots, festivals, and early summer flower attractions of Seocheon, Yesan, and Gongju.

◇ Where Time Stands Still and Nature Breathes, 'Seocheon'

Seocheon is a travel destination where visitors can enjoy both nostalgic charm and natural landscapes, centered around Pangyo 'Time Stands Still' Village, Seocheon Specialized Market, and Janghang Songnim Pine Forest.

Pangyo 'Time Stands Still' Village has recently seen an increase in visitors after becoming known as a filming location for the drama 'Scarecrow.' Meanwhile, at the Seocheon Specialized Market, visitors can taste fresh seafood such as seasonal baby octopus and cuttlefish until early June.

Janghang Songnim Pine Forest, densely packed with centuries-old black pines offering a pine-scented walk, and the Janghang Skywalk, where you can take in breathtaking views of the West Sea and the Geumgang River Estuary at the end of the forest path, are also must-visit attractions.

It is also highly recommended to look around eco-tourism facilities like the National Institute of Ecology, National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea, and the Bird Ecology Exhibition Hall, alongside traditional cultural spaces such as Munheonseowon Confucian Academy, the Historic House of Lee Ha-bok, and the Hansan Mosi (Ramie) Hall.

In particular, the 36th Hansan Mosi Cultural Festival will be held from June 12 to 14 at the Hansan Mosi Hall, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity site.

◇ The Blue Watercolor of Early Summer Painted by Korea's Largest Reservoir, 'Yesan'

Yesan possesses diverse charms where you can enjoy both natural scenery and leisure activities, centered around Yedangho Lake.

Places well worth visiting include the cornflower colonies at Agroland Taeshin Farm, the historic site of Patriot Yun Bong-gil where his noble spirit of independence can be felt, hot spring resorts carrying on the legacy of Deoksan Hot Springs like Splas Resom, and the Bongsusan Natural Recreation Forest and Arboretum.

Around Yedangho Lake, Yesan's representative tourist destination, visitors can enjoy an observatory with panoramic views of the open lake, a suspension bridge, a musical fountain, a monorail, moving boats, and an adventure park with 71 thrilling obstacle courses.

Furthermore, the 'Yesan National Heritage Night Tour' will be held around the Yesan Hoseo Bank from June 12 to 13, offering performances and hands-on programs, while visitors can taste a variety of local foods at the Yesan Permanent Market.

◇ Paths Embroidered with Hydrangeas, Landscapes Where the Mind Rests, 'Gongju'

Gongju boasts a variety of charms, including the Yugu Saekdong Hydrangea Garden where tens of thousands of hydrangeas spread out like a watercolor painting, the Yugu Traditional Market welcoming visitors with warm murals, the Yugu Textile History Exhibition Hall preserving the glory of the past textile industry, the Metasequoia Path radiating the freshness of early summer, the Geumgang Singwan Park where purple elephant garlic flowers bloom in mid-June, and the Gongsanseong Fortress shining across the river at sunset.

In addition, it is rich in historical resources, including the Chungnam Historical Museum, which houses the UNESCO Memory of the World documents on Joseon Tongsinsa (Envoys), the Gongju National Museum holding national treasure-level artifacts excavated from the Tomb of King Muryeong, and the Chungcheong Regional Storage Center safeguarding tens of thousands of cultural properties.

The Baekje Cultural Center, which opened in February, is a cultural complex where you can explore the history of Baekje. It is a special tourist destination where the breath of Ungjin Baekje is reinterpreted through cutting-edge media art and content, offering an experience where the past and present intersect.

Furthermore, enjoying the romantic atmosphere of hanok cafes and independent bookstores along the Jeminchon Stream, which runs through downtown Gongju, will deepen the joy of your trip.

Moreover, the Gongju Sanseong Market's 'Bammosil (Night Stroll) Night Market,' which opened on the 15th, will continue to be held every Friday and Saturday evening throughout June, enhancing the delight of early summer night travels with abundant food and lively cultural performances.

◇ Walking Along the Flower Waves of Early Summer, 'Chungnam Watercolor Stroll'

The province's representative early summer flower spots are also recommended, such as the golden-wave coreopsis along the Baengmagang River in Buyeo and Cheonheung Reservoir in Cheonan, astilbes at Chollipo Arboretum in Taean, and trumpet creepers and sunflowers at Sotdae Village in Nonsan.

Trumpet creepers can also be seen at Oeam Folk Village in Asan, and sunflowers at Hasol Village in Seosan.

Hydrangea spots, the main attraction of June, include the Yugu Saekdong Hydrangea Garden in Gongju, Buseoksa Temple in Seosan, Beautiful Garden Hwasumok in Cheonan, Solbaram Theme Park in Hongseong, and Farm Kamille in Taean.
