Chungnam Confirmed It's Ground Plan for the Future
Chungnam confirmed it's revised plan about “The 3rd Comprehensive Plan(2008~2020) of Chungnam Province” connoting the future of Chungnam and its development plan that is the top plan autho-rized by laws. According to that plan, Chungnam will be developed from present asymmetrically structure concentrating on the Northern areas into the multi-core networking for a balanced development structure by supporting each local government's independent strategy for development based on the rational division of overall Chungnam areas into '3 by 3 Core axles' and '4 major areas'.

Chungnam's Plannings for the Balanced Development of Whole Areas
These vision and plan show Chungnam's strong will for the balanced development of whole areas.
There are many projects for establishing SOCs such as Pyeongtaek City, Anseong City, Boryeong-Gongju Highway, Eastern-Western-Southern-Northern Expressways in the new capital city of Chungnam, Western Coast Road for Sightseeing and Industry, Western Coast Railroad, Boryeong New Harbor, Daesan Port, etc. and these projects compose the basic of combined development plan of Chungnam for the broad areas of Gumgang river basin. And Chungnam pursues project for developing Southern Gongju railroad station and the Yellow Sea Free Economic Zone. Besides, the construc- tion of local industrial complexes, well maintenance of diverse relics of traditional Confucianism, Bio-Valley for the traditional Oriental Medical Therapies, the Hansan Mosi(a kind of Korean traditional fabrics) Complex.
For these projects, the total budget of $84.14 Billions(USD) is going to be invested. Among the total sum, 38.8% will be allocated to the SOC sectors and 24.1% to the development of cities and localities, 16.6% to culture & tourism, 6.6% to environmental sectors, 3.1% to well-being sectors and 2.4% to the development of natural resources sectors.

If the plan is successfully carried out, the development Indices of Chungnam between 2005 and 2020 will be changed as follow.

쪾GRDP : From $38Bil. to $98.6Bil.
쪾GRDP Per Capita : From $19,456 to $39,450
쪾Water supply percentage : From 63.3% to 90.0%
