Multicultural Festival of the Global Community was “Popular”
Held by International Rotary District No. 3620 and sponsored by Chungnam, the “Multicultural Festival of the Global Community” took place at the Cheonan Stadium on April 26, 2009. The festival was popular with the participation of 5,000 people from multicultural families, civil groups and citizens in addition to Mr. Chae Hun, deputy head of Political Affairs of Chungnam.

The festival included many different events such as medical volunteer works for immigrants, an essay contest for multicultural families, sampling party of each nation traditional dishes, performance of each nation traditional culture, and promoting traditional Korean culture.

Chungnam Dispatched Hangul Teachers to “Multicultural Families”
Each educational agency in the province will have Hangul teachers dispatched for multicultural families.
Chungnam Educational Body decided to invest 1.4 billion won to dispatch 85 “Hangul Love Teachers” to 15 local educational agencies in May, 2009. The teachers will teach Hangul to young children, first and second graders and their parents from multicultural families and promote their basic learning capacity.
One official from the Chungnam Educational Body said, “Many students from multicultural families fail to continue their study due to different skin colors and lacking Korean skills. We are going to help the members of multicultural families settle down in Korea as fast as possibly by providing them with Hangul education, visiting them at their homes, and running programs for them to experience Korean culture and history.”
