At 5:00pm of March 13, 2009, Chungnam Provincial Governor Lee Wan-gu signed an MOU agreement to promote mutual growth and collaboration with the representatives of the seven Korean associations at the small meeting room of the provincial office.

The agreement covers a wide range of areas including attracting investments, supporting exports, holding international events, and helping students with their overseas employment. It also contains provisions regarding trade counseling, client introduction, and visits to businesses for delegations and entrepreneurs.

The seven Korean associations are the Federation of Korean Association USA, Association of Korean Residence in Europe, Federation of Korean Society of Oceania Inc, Federation of Korean Association in the Middle East, Federation of Korean Association in South America, Federation of Korean Societies in China, and the Federation of Korean-Canadian Association. They represent seven million Koreans living overseas.

The agreement offered Chungnam a framework for mutual growth with the seven Korean associations and spurred close cooperation and strong friendship and a promise for further support and convenience to its companies trying to explore foreign markets.

Chungnam will appoint the representatives of the seven Korean associations and Mr. Kim Gil-nam as the promotional ambassadors of Chungnam and invite them to work for the Anmyeondo World Flower Fair and Daebaek Festival of 2010.

The provincial governor said, “I have attracted 4.7 billion dollars from overseas and further attention from the global community. The MOU agreement with the seven Korean associations will allow me to attract more foreign investments and provide export support to our companies.” He asked for further promotion and cooperation from the heads of the seven associations in addition to their interest and support for many festivals of the province.
