▲ The 10th International Display Valley Conference & Exhibition 2014 (DVCE2014)

To discuss the future directions of the rapidly developing display industry, the 10th International Display Valley Conference & Exhibition 2014 (DVCE2014) was held from Tuesday, November 11th to Wednesday the 13th at Sun Moon University in Asan, Chungnam.

The conference was hosted by Chungcheongnam-do and organized by the Chungnam Technology Park. The Chungnam Display Cooperation Agency organized the conference, now in its tenth iteration since 2005.

The scale of DVCE2014 with the slogan of “Display Chungnam, Newly coming 10 years with new Chungnam” was the biggest ever this year, proving its status as the largest comprehensive display exhibition.

The most notable moments were the business conference and academic conference in which about 120 papers were presented by renowned experts in related industries and fields of research.

The event was highly renowned for having been organized very professionally by dividing the conference with 1500 participants into specific sections which made profound discussions possible on the topics of R&D strategies, OLED, LCD, LED, electronic printings, touch panels, solar energy, etc.


There were various events which accompanied the exhibition as well. A total of 64 teams with 92 students attended the College Students’ Display Presentation Competition.

About 58 teams with elementary, middle, and high school students participated in Smartphone Video Competition. Additionally, there was a patent consulting booth operated by the Korean Intellectual Property Office to protect small companies’ technology and ideas.

About 1,100 students from elementary, middle, and high school enjoyed practical and helpful hands-on activities. In the counselling conference on exports which was held for promoting small and medium sized business marketing, business deals estimated at US$17,850,000 were discussed. As a result, 74 case contracts amounting to US$3,300,000 were signed.    


The display business creates huge forward and backward linkage effects and the speed of its technology development is fairly fast.

The display manufacturing companies in Korea secure major market shares for 12 years, and about 200 out of 800 companies nationwide are located at Chungnam with a collective revenue of about US$30.8 billion.

DVCE2014 was a valuable event to show that the display business is truly one of t strongest sectors in Chungnam.
