Governor An Heejung paid a visit to the United Kingdom and Poland on a five-night, seven-day itinerary concerning the plan for the development of ports in the Province and expansion of exchanges and cooperation with the local governments of foreign countries.

In Poland, he was briefed on the status of operation of farms at exemplary pig farms and fruit juice farms in Greater Poland Voivodeship.

His visit to Greater Poland Voivodeship was made at the official invitation of Marek WoZniak, Governor of the Wielkopolska Region who took part in the ceremony for opening the new Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Government Office in Naepo New Town in Hongseong-gun and Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do in April 2013.

At that time, Mr. Marek WoZniak offered a three-week training program for two officials of the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Government in his country using an EU-provided fund.

Prior to his visit to Poland, Governor An went to Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, and Brighton in the United Kingdom. In Portsmouth, he met with Mayor Steven Wylie and got briefed on the status of the development, maintenance, and operation of ports and marinas.

He then paid visits to the Harbor and Marina of Portsmouth and Port Solent Marina to see things he could learn from in conjunction with his plan for the development of ports and marine tourism along the West Sea coast.

Other places he visited in the United Kingdom were Osborne House, the holiday home of Queen Victoria and her family, and Brighton Pier, a pleasure pier.

Governor An has disclosed his plan to make the West Coast the Mediterranean of Asia and has taken steps to concretize the plan, including the establishment of the plan for the development of oceans and fisheries and holding of the relevant workshops.
