▲ Closing ceremony of the 7th Northeast Asia Local Assembly Chairperson Forum

The 7th Northeast Asia Local Assembly Chairperson Forum was held in Chungcheongnam-do for three days from April 18. The forum was attended by those from 11 local councils and tourism organization officials of Korea, China, Japan, Russia, and Mongolia.

Prior to the forum, the attendees visited Yesan’s Resom Spa Castle and Sudeoksa Temple, which was founded more than a thousand years ago.

At the Forum, Principal Kang Hyun-soo of the Chungnam Institute proposed the exploration of programs like joint production of performing arts and joint programs for the enhancement of cultural tourism among the countries in the region .

The core idea of his proposal was the need to build the potential for co-prosperity through exchanges and collaboration in history, culture, arts, and matters related to young people based on the geographical proximity and cultural similarity among the countries.

An attendee cited the need to enhance the level of consensus on homogeneity and heterogeneity stemming from each country’s unique culture and tradition for the invigoration of exchanges among the countries in the region.

“We will strive to build a solid relationship of collaboration among the countries in the region through the establishment of a collaborative network concerning culture and tourism,” an official of Chungcheongnam-do said.
