▲ Export consultation session with Delica Co., Ltd., a Thai local import company

The city of Dangjin invited CEO (Makato Kawabata) and representative of a Thai local import company, Delica Co., Ltd., to conduct an export consultation session in the city hall’s reception room on the 17th.

This is the third time that the city has invited a local company of a different country to host an export consultation, after Mongolia and Malaysia last month.

Last month, HAE NA RU RICE was the topic of export discussions. During the meeting held on the 17th, export consultations took place over roasted red ginseng, an agricultural specialty of Dangjin that has been sold through home shopping channels, and Myeongcheon Matgim, a kind of gim, or dried laver, popular even among foreigners.

Korean ginseng or red ginseng are regarded as functional health products not only domestically but also overseas. Roasted red ginseng is widely known to have a significantly higher amount of active constituents of ginseng, which are more related to anticarcinogenic and antioxidating effects than typical fresh ginseng.

Also, Myeongcheon Matgim is well suited to the appetites of foreigners and boasts a high level of recognition as it has been introduced in various TV shows so, once it is exported overseas, it is expected to instantly attract great popularity in local markets.

A representative from the city stated, “Recently, interest in agricultural specialties of our region has been increasing from foreign buyers and companies…as the quality of our products has already been recognized in Korea, we will actively support our farmers to pioneer overseas markets.”
